How to Choose Flowers for Different Occassions

No matter what flower you send to your loved ones, they are going to love it. Sometimes buying flowers can be difficult especially when you want to impress that certain someone and really just blow them away! To give you some ideas, here is a list of different types of flowers that are usually used for a certain occasion.

BIRTHDAY

Send an arrangement that includes the birth flower for that month.

  • January are Carnation
  • February are Violets
  • March are Daffodils
  • April are Daisies
  • May are Lilies
  • June are Roses
  • July are Larkspur
  • August are Gladiolus
  • September are Aster
  • October are Marigolds
  • November are Chrysanthemum
  • December are Poinsettias

ANNIVERSARY

There is a flower that represents every 5 years of that Anniversary

  • 5 years are for Daisies
  • 10 years are for Daffodils
  • 15 years are for Roses
  • 20 years are for Aster
  • 25 years are for Iris
  • 30 years are for Lilies

Flowers that you can always use for any anniversary are pink or red Roses. Stay away from yellow as yellow represents friendship. (Unless your partner likes yellow then of course give them their favorite color.)

FIRST DATE

Tulips, single Rose, and Gerber Daisies are great options. Never do anything too over the top for the first date.

FUNERAL OR SYMPATHY

White Roses, Chrysanthemums, Gladiolus, Carnations or Lilies are typically used in funeral arrangements. The colors blue, white, and green are usually used as they are calming colors.

GET WELL

When the person is in the hospital you don't want to send anything overly fragrant. Iris, Gladiolus or Tulips are great options. If the recipient is sick at home, anything cheery or a green plant will help lift their spirits.

I'M SORRY

Apology flowers are usually Roses, Lilies, and Orchids.

CONGRATULATIONS

Roses, Daffodils, Orchids, Daisies and Lilies can all help say congratulations.

CHRISTMAS

Poinsettia plants or Amaryllis flowers are popular Christmas flowers. Anything white, green or red can work as well.

MOTHER'S DAY

Anything mom likes should definitely be the first choice but pink Carnations, red Carnations and Gerbera Daisies are popular Mother's Day flowers as well.

VALENTINE'S DAY

Red Roses and pink Roses are the two most popular choices. You can also do mixed flowers that include red, white and pink flowers.
